Luxury travel demand is accelerating well into 2027, according to Pavlus Travel & Cruise, a member of Travel Leaders Network. “The business outlook for the remainder of 2026 and heading toward 2027 looks quite positive,” said Craig S. Pavlus, founder and CEO, in a press statement. “It’s shaping up to be a record-breaking year.”
Trending Now at Pavlus
Here are the trends shaping clients’ 2027 vacations, based on the company’s bookings:
- Upping the Luxury Ante: Clients who once booked premium trips are now moving up to luxury and ultra-luxury tiers.
- One Trip, Two Trips (or Three): Many clients are no longer booking one future trip at a time. Some are purchasing two, three or four vacations in a single conversation with their planner; one client recently booked multiple future trips totaling nearly $1 million.
- Future Options: Given strong demand, suppliers are rolling out 2028 and 2029 itineraries earlier than usual. “That gives travelers a wider range of future options to consider,” said Janet Anderson, the company’s director of luxury travel development, in a press statement.
- More Asia and Australia: Bookings for Japan in spring and fall 2027 are strong, according to Taylor Bazzoni, a Pavlus personal travel planner. Anderson pointed to solid sales for Oceania Cruises’ newly launched 2028-2029 season, particularly Asia sailings, along with steady demand for Asia itineraries from Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Seabourn. Australia and New Zealand trips for fall and winter 2027-2028 are also selling well, alongside Alaska and Western Europe.
- Luxury + Adventure: Fia Bauer, another Pavlus planner, recently booked two guests on a 19-day 2027 Alaska-to-Japan voyage with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions; the pair paid roughly $99,000 for an upper category suite, a category Bauer said often sells out quickly.
- Inheritance? What Inheritance?: Some family matriarchs and patriarchs are choosing to spend part of their children’s and grandchildren’s inheritances on shared trips.
- New luxury ships in focus: New ship launches are fueling bookings. Pavlus Travel & Cruise hosted a customer event this year centered on Oceania Cruises‘ new Oceania Sonata, generating future cruise sales. Clients are also asking about Explora Journeys’ Explora III and Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Prestige, both launching this year, as well as Four Seasons Yachts’ Four Seasons II, arriving in 2028.
- Longer trips, more experiences: Trip lengths are expanding, too, with options including world cruises, grand voyages and back-to-back sailings or escorted tours. Clients are also combining a river or ocean voyage with a land tour, an overland journey or a pre- or post-cruise stay.
