Disney has done it again. The new Disney Destiny—the latest addition to Disney Cruise Line’s growing fleet—brings the legacies of Disney’s greatest heroes and villains to life through stunning design, immersive storytelling and heart-stealing details around every corner.
Themed around the “Heroes and Villains” concept, the Destiny captures the duality that makes Disney stories unforgettable—inviting cruisers to step into both sides of the tale.
A Heroic Welcome Aboard
As you enter the Grand Hall, the heart of the ship, the scene is breathtaking: a gleaming statue of Black Panther commands attention as dynamic lighting transforms the space from regal golds to vivid purples and greens. It’s an ever-changing stage for live music, dance parties and spontaneous moments with characters like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the gang—and even Maleficent, who revels in her villainous spotlight as guests line up for selfies.
Port Everglades Gets Its Moment
The Destiny made its grand debut at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, marking the first Disney ship to homeport there year-round. During the christening celebration, thousands of drones lit up the night sky, forming dazzling shapes and characters as projections danced across the ship’s hull in a one-of-a-kind performance that merged technology and Disney storytelling.
The ceremony culminated with Broadway star Susan Egan, the original Belle in Beauty and the Beast and voice of Megara in Hercules, blessing the ship as its godmother—an especially fitting choice for a vessel devoted to epic tales.
For advisors, this ship is one to watch. The Destiny’s four- and five-night itineraries to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean will include stops at both Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, opening new possibilities for clients in South Florida and beyond.
Entertainment aboard the Destiny is nothing short of spectacular. The new Broadway-style production of “Disney Hercules” was a standout—an inspiring, high-energy performance filled with stunning costumes, soaring vocals from talented performers and theatrical magic that Disney is known for. The same can be said for Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, where live music and beloved songs from the film come alive in a dining-and-show experience.
Adults can unwind at De Vil’s, a Cruella-inspired piano lounge dripping in black, white, and red glamour, or sip cocktails at the mystical Sanctum, themed to Doctor Strange. Families can gather at Worlds of Marvel or the elegant 1923, celebrating Disney’s rich animation history.
The Disney Destiny is poised to appeal to a broader range of cruisers than ever before.
Appealing to Older Kids—and Their Parents
“This ship is going to draw an older crowd,” said Tori Tomasheski, co-owner of ET Family Travel. “Disney has that misconception of being just for children, but I think the Destiny is going to attract that older child. Blending everyone together in one place—and having Black Panther in the Grand Hall—sets the tone right away. It’s not Mickey and Minnie anymore; it’s Spider-Man and Loki. We’re already hearing from clients that their older kids are interested in this ship.”
Tomasheski added that Port Everglades will be an ideal home for the Destiny. “For Port Everglades to have a Disney ship is also a great addition—especially with that ‘Goldilocks’ sailing length of three to five nights,” she said.
The Disney Destiny marks the latest addition to Disney Cruise Line’s growing fleet and a major milestone in the company’s multi-year expansion. This plan will grow the fleet to 13 ships by 2031 and includes several exciting developments: the Disney Adventure, homeporting in Singapore beginning in March 2026; a fourth Wish-class ship debuting in 2027; the introduction of a brand-new class of ships in 2029; and an agreement with Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC) to introduce Disney cruise vacations to Japan that same year.
As Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, shared during the christening, “Our ships become brand ambassadors that travel the globe and bring joy to our guests in ways only Disney can. Now, the Disney Destiny makes its own extraordinary entry into our growing fleet.”
From its dynamic Grand Hall to its heroic entertainment lineup, the Disney Destiny is more than a ship—it’s a stage where every guest, hero or villain, can discover their own story at sea.
