JetBlue’s new BlueFirst seating represents a “fresh take” on domestic first-class service, with more comfortable seating and upgraded amenities and seatback technology that includes the ability to order cocktails, meals, and snacks, said JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty in a press statement.
BlueFirst Ups the Ante in the Air
Announced on Sept. 1 and slated to debut on some JetBlue flights later this year, BlueFirst promises “an elevated experience that feels distinctly JetBlue, with thoughtful touches, caring service, and great value,” added Geraghty.
Highlights include:
- Seats featuring Tuft & Needle Flex foam designed to offer travelers personalized support and responsive pressure relief during flights
- Seating in a two-by-two configuration with five inches of recline and up to seven inches of additional legroom compared to JetBlue’s Main seats
- Seatbacks with 13.3 screens and Bluetooth connectivity to JetBlue’s Blueprint inflight entertainment platform, USB-A, USB-C and 110VAC power ports, and complimentary high-speed Internet access
- Blanket and snooze kits for passengers traveling on overnight flights
“Customers told us loud and clear that comfort matters most, so that’s where we started,” Geraghty noted. “Traditional first-class food and beverage can feel stuck in the past. BlueFirst is our way of refreshing the experience for today’s traveler. Premium should feel special, not stuffy.”
Seatback ordering will include an interactive “Mixologist Mode” that allows customers to create custom cocktails by choosing spirits, mixers, and flavorings, then submit their creations to crew members for delivery to their seats. The wine list is curated by Parcelle of New York City; the coffee comes from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, and teas are sourced from Smith Teamaker.
New FareFirst meals will be served in bento boxes and include an entree, side and dessert. Premium snacks will include products from Sockerbit, Tosi, Wholesome Bakery, Pop Daddy Snacks and Cape Cod Chips.
BlueFirst is part of JetBlue’s broader JetForward strategy to provide more benefits and perks for premium travelers, including the BlueHouse lounges now open at Boston Logan International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
BlueFirst will eventually be rolled out in all of JetBlue’s markets not currently served by the airline’s premium Mint business class. Additional details, including initial routes and booking availability for BlueFirst, will be announced later this year, airline officials said.
