American Airlines Debuts New Gates at Dallas Fort Worth Terminal

American Airlines opened a new Terminal C pier at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), giving travelers an early glimpse of the airline’s plans to transform its largest hub.

The newly unveiled facility features nine electronic boarding gates equipped with upgraded technology—including four gates and five rebuilt gates—designed to improve operational efficiency and accommodate future growth.

Developed over the past two years using modular construction methods to minimize disruption, the pier introduces a more spacious and contemporary experience for passengers passing through DFW.

Terminal C Expansion at DFW

Customers will find expanded seating areas, upgraded restrooms, new concessions and energy-efficient floor-to-ceiling windows. High ceilings and an open layout reflect the design direction planned for the future of Terminal C.

The opening represents the first major milestone in a historic effort to expand and modernize the airline’s Dallas/Fort Worth operation.

Terminal C, currently the airline’s busiest terminal at DFW, is set to be completely rebuilt in phases over the coming years. The project will introduce new check-in areas, security checkpoints, baggage handling systems, retail and dining outlets, art installations and enhanced customer amenities.

Improved facilities and expanded gate capacity are expected to support a smoother travel experience during peak periods while positioning the airport for future demand. The Terminal C project is just one piece of the broader expansion. A similar pier-style addition at Terminal A, featuring additional gates, is scheduled to debut later this year.

Looking ahead, American plans to open the first phase of Terminal F in 2027. The airline’s sixth terminal at DFW will add 31 gates and introduce an entirely new terminal experience for customers traveling through the Texas hub.
