Silversea has unveiled the interior spaces of The Cormorant at 55 South, a 150-room hotel set to open in October in Puerto Williams.
Positioned as the southernmost hotel on Earth, the property will serve as a key component of the line’s Antarctica Fly Cruise program — offering a seamless, luxury land-and-air bridge to the White Continent.
A Design Narrative Rooted in Patagonia
The Cormorant is conceived as more than a pre- or post-cruise overnight. Instead, it is designed as an immersive extension of the expedition experience.
Signature spaces draw inspiration from the surrounding Patagonian wilderness, from a dramatic fireplace lounge to expansive windows with views of the forest, mountains and the Beagle Channel. All 150 guestrooms feature either forest or water views overlooking the Beagle Channel. Each room will also include handcrafted pieces by Chilean artisans.
Culinary Programming with Destination Depth
Latitude 55 — named for its proximity to the 55th parallel south — will spotlight Patagonian ingredients while Bar Sur transitions from daytime teas and light bites to evening tastings and masterclasses. The boutique, Uncharted, will retail locally crafted keepsakes alongside expedition essentials.
Strengthening the Antarctica Fly Cruise Model
The hotel is a cornerstone of Silversea’s Antarctica Fly Cruise itineraries, which allow guests to bypass the Drake Passage via charter flight. The journey begins with a hotel stay in Santiago, followed by a direct flight to Puerto Williams. Guests will overnight at The Cormorant before flying onward to King George Island for embarkation. Upon return, they will again overnight at the hotel before flying back to Santiago.
