MSC Group’s Cruise Division has officially broken ground on Sandy Cay, a new luxury private island destination in the Bahamas set to welcome MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests in 2028.
Located next to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Sandy Cay will give cruise travelers another private-island experience with a focus on wellness, relaxation and the surrounding natural environment.
Sandy Cay Will Focus on Wellness and Seclusion
Unlike the larger Ocean Cay experience, Sandy Cay is being designed as a more intimate retreat. The island will feature five beaches, private retreats and dining venues.
The destination will also emphasize the natural surroundings and marine environment, building on Ocean Cay’s focus on conservation and the connection between guests and the ocean.
For advisors, the new island could give MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys another way to appeal to clients looking for a more relaxed or elevated private-island experience within a Caribbean itinerary.
MSC is also expanding Ocean Cay, adding new dining venues, beach concepts for both families and adults, expanded relaxation areas and new experiences centered on marine conservation.
