Hilton has opened Montara Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, in the mountains of Heredia, Costa Rica, marking the lifestyle brand’s debut in Costa Rica and Central America. The 97-guestroom property, including 38 suites, sits on roughly 540,000 sq. ft. of grounds overlooking the Central Valley.
“The continued growth of Tapestry Collection by Hilton across Caribbean and Latin America reflects the increasing demand for hotels that offer a strong sense of place and a deeper connection to the destination … Montara Hotel—a cherished local retreat—was designed to create a meaningful connection between guests and the extraordinary surroundings that make Costa Rica such a special destination,” said Maxime Verstraete, VP, Brand Management, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton, in a press statement.

Guestrooms feature private balconies and firepits, with wood finishes and windows framing mountain, garden and lake views. An exclusive art collection for the property includes work by National Painting Award recipient Mario Maffioli and Fabio Herrera, whose work is also at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Sustainability features include solar panels for self-consumption, 100 percent LED lighting, electric maintenance and landscaping equipment, a wastewater treatment plant supporting irrigation reuse, rainwater collection and hydration stations.
Dining offers four choices. Bosco, the signature restaurant, pairs international influences with seasonal Costa Rican ingredients from local farmers and an on-site garden. Santoro, a fine-dining steakhouse led by chef Regis Molina, focuses on fire-based cooking. The 1998 Lobby Bar serves cocktails, and a poolside juice bar offers fresh drinks. Wellness centers on a 13,200-sq.-ft. spa offering hydrotherapy, facial therapies and holistic treatments, with open-air decks, meditation areas and nature trails.
Montara Hotel is located about 13 miles from Juan Santamaria International Airport and downtown San Jose, near Braulio Carrillo National Park, Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. The hotel participates in Hilton Honors and is part of Tapestry Collection by Hilton within Hilton’s lifestyle portfolio, alongside Curio Collection by Hilton and Outset Collection by Hilton.
