Seattle has emerged as a leading destination for Pride Month celebrations, backed by a history of LGBTQIA+ advocacy and inclusive citywide initiatives. The city hosted one of the first U.S. Pride events in 1974 and was part of Washington’s early move to legalize same-sex marriage in 2012.
In 2024, the city’s Mayor Bruce Harrell declared May 30 “Love For All Day” while aboard Visit Seattle’s Love For All Boat, further reinforcing the city’s commitment to LGBTQIA+ rights and visibility. Throughout June and beyond, visitors are encouraged to support Seattle’s LGBTQIA+ businesses and attend events across the city.
From Capitol Hill to the newly renovated Waterfront, travelers can celebrate Pride Month in Seattle during an array of events, festivals and performances.
Among the many festivals is the 51st-annual Pride in the Park (June 7) at Volunteer Park, with food trucks, live music, drag performances and community spaces; the 3-day, 21+ Queer/Pride Festival (June 27-29), taking place on the streets of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood and featuring live drag performances, DJ sets and musical performances by headliners like Tinashe, Lil’ Kim and Countess Luann; the Seattle PrideFest, one of the largest of its kind in the U.S., with four stages of entertainment for all ages in Capitol Hill (June 28), followed by more festivities on June 29, when the celebrations head to Seattle Center, where attendees can enjoy hundreds of vendors, food, drinks and entertainment; and Seattle Pride Parade on June 29, which begins near Seattle Center and ends near Westlake Center.
Other highlights include Pride: The Ric Weiland Collection exhibit at the Museum of History and Industry (opening June 14); Queer Capitol Hill: A Historic Walking Tour (June 14), led by the Seattle Architecture Foundation, putting the focus on Capitol Hill’s historically queer spaces; Pride Month at Seattle Aquarium, hosting Queer Community Day on June 22, with educational talks, activities and drag performances (on June 26, the aquarium will host After Hours: Pride Celebration); and Beneath The Streets’ Queer History Tour, guiding participants through Seattle’s Underground with a focus on early LGBTQIA+ history and activism in Pioneer Square.
