The Seagate in Delray Beach, Florida, underwent an extensive, multi-million dollar property-wide renovation, featuring significant enhancements to its lobby, 157 guestrooms and suites, pool, Beach Club and dining outlets.
These renovations, led by Brooklyn-based interior design firm Watts & Dray, mark the first major upgrades to the iconic Delray Beach property since its opening in 2009.
Redesigned and Reimagined
“The Seagate has been a beloved staple in Delray Beach for more than a decade, and it was important to our team that the new redesign spoke to the vibrant culture, history and setting of our cherished community,” said Alex Schnoeller, Managing Director of The Seagate, in a press statement. “We’re grateful to Watts & Dray and its partners for creating luxurious spaces that are immersive and warm for the comfort and enjoyment of our members, guests, and locals.”
The property’s redesign includes Caribbean-style architectural influences mixed with the charm of Florida’s coastal homes. Design firm Watts & Dray used a palette of sand-colored limewash paint accented with Dutch blue, and hand-painted Delft tiles, imported from Amsterdam, were added to create an authentic touch to the hotel’s interior spaces.
In addition, the guestrooms and lobby feature curated art pieces that feature Florida coastal living. Complementing the aesthetic, hand-crafted accent rugs by designer Marc Phillips bring texture and comfort to the spaces.
The refurbishment enhances The Seagate’s appeal in the Delray Beach area, combining modern amenities with design elements reflective of Florida’s beachfront communities. The Seagate’s many offerings—golf, dining and overall design—make it an appealing recommendation for your clients seeking a distinctive Florida getaway this winter.
Golf and Dining
The Seagate recently revitalized its 18-hole championship golf course, spearheaded by architect J. Drew Rogers. The enhancements include reshaped bunkers, expansive green complexes, improved practice facilities and refined water hazards—all set amid tree-lined fairways. Designed to challenge even seasoned golfers, the course now offers a more dynamic playing experience.
Adding to its makeover, The Seagate is set to debut Bourbon Steak Delray Beach by Michelin Star Chef Michael Mina in January 2025, promising a high-end dining experience for guests and locals alike.
“Our vision for the reimagined Seagate was to create spaces that were structural, charming, worldly and art-filled while being functional and comfortable for guests,” said Vanessa Watts, Partner at Watts & Dray, in a press statement. “To achieve this design concept, we carefully selected world-class vendors to partner with to create custom and handcrafted accents and art pieces throughout the property.”
