A slate of exciting new nonstop international flights is taking off in 2026, with major North American carriers unveiling expanded transatlantic and European services. Air Canada — Montreal (YUL) to Catania (CTA)

Air Canada is adding its newest long-haul offering between Montreal-Trudeau International Airport and Catania–Fontanarossa Airport in Sicily this summer. Scheduled to operate three times weekly from June 4 through Oct. 22, 2026, the seasonal service marks the first direct link between Canada and Sicily.

Alaska Airlines — Seattle (SEA) to Rome (FCO)

Alaska Airlines will launch nonstop seasonal service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport beginning May 2026, with four weekly flights on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The new route marks Alaska’s first European destination and positions Seattle as a true West Coast gateway to Italy.

American Airlines — Dallas (DFW) to Athens (ATH)

American Airlines continues to grow its European network with daily seasonal service between Dallas/Fort Worth and Athens International Airport starting May 21, 2026. Operated on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with business, premium economy and main cabin options, the route opens direct access from the U.S. to Greece’s historic capital—a key leisure season destination and hub for island connections.

Delta Air Lines — New York (JFK) to La Valletta (MLA)

Delta’s expanded transatlantic map includes a seasonal service linking New York’s JFK with Malta International Airport. Operating three times a week aboard a Boeing 767-300ER, the flight provides the only direct U.S. connection to the Mediterranean island nation, renowned for its UNESCO-listed capital, Mediterranean culture, and year-round appeal.

United Airlines — Newark (EWR) to Santiago de Compostela (SCQ)

United Airlines will inaugurate the first regularly scheduled nonstop U.S.–to–Santiago de Compostela service in Spain’s Galicia region with a three-times-weekly seasonal flight from Newark Liberty International Airport. Starting May 22, 2026, this new transatlantic route places one of Europe’s most historic pilgrimage cities within direct reach of U.S. travelers for the first time.
