American Cruise Lines, the largest U.S. cruise company, recently announced details for its new class of modern riverboats, the first of which is destined for American rivers next fall. These new ships are the first of their kind and will combine the contemporary styling of the European riverboats with the premium comfort for which American Cruise Lines is known.
“For over a decade, we have led the way with ship innovation in the U.S. and continue to raise the bar with this new class of modern riverboats,” says Timothy Beebe, v.p. of American Cruise Lines.
At 345 ft. long, the new riverboats will include all the finest design features that today’s travelers have come to expect, including spacious staterooms, premium amenities, and modern decor. The ships were specifically designed to maximize the stateroom size and location, and feature the largest staterooms in the United States; all exterior facing, with private balconies, and hotel-size bathrooms. The modern riverboats will also have a 4-story atrium in the center of the ship, which will create an incredible first impression for guests as they board.
These new vessels will still feature the service, amenities and inclusions that the line is known for. On board and ashore American Cruise Lines works with guests to accommodate individual interests, tastes, and needs. Each onshore excursion is carefully planned and supported with expert guides who are well-versed in the history of the region, and the company’s award-winning onboard enrichment programs feature carefully selected naturalists, historians, and musicians that highlight the regions they visit.

The first in the series of five modern American riverboats is scheduled to begin passenger service on the Lower Mississippi River in the fall of 2018.
