“Wild Horse Nine,” the new Martin McDonagh film starring John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell and Steve Buscemi, is the inspiration behind a new 7-day Tailormade journey from Abercrombie & Kent (A&K). Created in partnership with Searchlight Pictures, the privately guided itinerary takes travelers from Santiago to Easter Island, where they’ll visit filming locations featured in “Wild Horse Nine” while exploring Chile’s history, Rapa Nui culture and some of the island’s most iconic archaeological sites. For travel advisors, it’s a new opportunity to tap into travelers’ growing interest in set-jetting.

With “Wild Horse Nine” set against the backdrop of Chile’s 1973 coup, the journey kicks off in Santiago, where local guides take guests to filming locations and historic sites tied to that pivotal moment in the country’s history. Stops include La Moneda Palace, the Museum of Memory and Human Rights and Villa Grimaldi, a former detention center now serving as a site of remembrance. The itinerary also includes a behind-the-scenes visit to Santiago’s Municipal Theatre, featured in the film, and a private dinner with a Chilean resident who shares firsthand accounts of life during the coup.

From Santiago, guests travel approximately 2,000 miles across the Pacific to Rapa Nui (Easter Island), home to nearly 1,000 moai statues carved by the island’s early inhabitants. Here, local guides take travelers to filming locations featured in “Wild Horse Nine,” including Rano Raraku, the volcanic quarry where hundreds of moai were carved; Ahu Tongariki, home to 15 restored statues; and Anakena Beach, known for its white sands and ancient ceremonial platforms. The itinerary also includes a visit to Hotel Iorana, another location featured in the film.

Highlights include sunset cocktails overlooking the Pacific at Ahu Tahai; sunrise at Ahu Tongariki, where 15 monumental moai greet the first light of day; a cultural performance featuring traditional dance, ancestral chants and Polynesian storytelling; dinner with a local Rapa Nui family; and an expert-led evening exploring the ancient Polynesian art of celestial navigation.
