September is National Honey Month in the U.S., and Ojai Valley Inn & Spa is celebrating by adding an extra buzz in the air around its tranquil southern California property: an apiary and immersive beekeeping experience for its guests.
Inaugurated on Sep. 1, 2017, the daily beekeeping excursions at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa begin with a visit to the Discover Ojai Center where guests will meet the beekeeper and hear a brief introduction on bees. From there, guests will head to the resort’s Mistletoe Meadows and fully equip themselves with beekeeping suits before taking a guided tour of the apiary.
The hands-on beekeeping experience will teach guests about the importance of bees’ role in our ecosystem and end with a tasting of raw honeys from local artisans. Guests who who want to indulge more can head to Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s restaurant, The Oak Kitchen, where they’ll find menu items infused with local honey.
