Intrepid Travel Adds Over 80 Trips and 50 Destinations for 2027

Intrepid Travel is adding more than 80 trips for 2027, introducing more than 50 new destinations, and placing more of its lineup in lesser-known regions in North and Central America, as well as in itineraries built for families and younger travelers. The new trips fall across the Walking & Trekking, Cycling, Wildlife, Explorer, Expedition, Short Breaks, Family and 18-35s categories.

Many of the additions take travelers past a country’s established hubs. The 14-day Hidden Gems of Thailand goes beyond Chiang Mai to rural mountain villages in the Mae Hong Son region before heading south to Koh Ngai island, and the 12-day Turkey Black Sea Adventure travels from Istanbul to Tbilisi with stops such as Safranbolu, Kastamonu, Samsun and Trabzon and hikes through the northern highlands. In Spain, the 7-day Hiking in Picos de Europa replaces summer crowds with high-altitude trails in the country’s north.

“Today’s travellers are looking for authenticity, local connection and experiences that help them engage more deeply with a destination. That’s exactly what Intrepid has been delivering for more than 35 years,” said Natalie Placko, Global Brand Director, in a press statement.

Intrepid’s Newest Lineup

The North and Central America additions follow existing demand. U.S. bookings for trips within the U.S., Canada and Central America are already growing into 2027, with Canada trips up 46 percent year over year. New destinations include Costa Rica’s Guanacaste region, Matagalpa in Nicaragua, Canada’s Yukon territory and several new regions in Mexico, served by trips such as:

  • 12-day Discover Nicaragua and Costa Rica
  • 12-day Central Mexico and the Sierra Gorda
  • 16-day Wild Canada & Alaska: Vancouver to Anchorage

Five of the new trips feature Indigenous-led experiences.

The rest of the lineup is organized around traveler type:

  • Active and wildlife: The 9-day Georgia: Trekking the Transcaucasian Trail crosses the Caucasus Mountains, the 11-day Cycle Rwanda Expedition covers the Congo Nile Trail and part of the UCI Road World Championship route and the 10-day Kenya Safari Adventure pairs the Maasai Mara with Samburu National Reserve. New walking trips in Sri Lanka, cycling in New Zealand and wildlife trips in South Africa and Namibia are also included.
  • Family: Among 15 new family trips are the 10-day Morocco Premium Family Holiday, with a Feature Stay at a desert camp; the 6-day Norway Family Holiday with Teenagers, which combines hiking and biking; and the 10-day Taiwan Family Holiday, which includes snorkeling with sea turtles.
  • Younger, budget-conscious travelers: The 7-day Simply Northern Thailand covers Chiang Mai, Bangkok and two days in Sukhothai, the 6-day Simply Egypt includes a sleeper train between Cairo and Luxor and the 15-day 18-35s Essential Barcelona to Berlin passes through France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The trips arrive during Intrepid’s largest brand campaign of the year, “Who You Travel With Changes Everything,” which runs through October in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia and centers on the company’s local leaders and small-group format.

Why It Matters

Hiking, trekking and walking ranked as the most in-demand adventure activities worldwide in the Adventure Travel Trade Association‘s 2026 Adventure Travel Trends & Insights report, which also found growing interest in women-focused travel. Intrepid’s numbers make the case: Walking and trekking is its fastest-growing category, up 16 percent year over year, and its Women’s Expeditions grew 32 percent in 2025, with 77 percent of those travelers traveling solo.
