Travel Guard has launched a new accessible travel safety resource hub to help travelers with disabilities plan and navigate trips with greater confidence.
The microsite features expert guidance, videos and practical resources covering accessible transportation, accommodations and destinations.
The launch follows a Travel Guard survey of 889 people with lived experience of accessibility needs, highlighting the barriers travelers continue to face when planning trips.
The survey found that 79 percent of respondents consider reliable accessibility information important when planning travel, 40 percent have avoided a destination because of accessibility concerns and 60 percent said they would travel more if accessibility barriers were removed.
The findings reveal the continued need for resources and reliable information that help travelers evaluate accessibility considerations before they travel.
Mobility, vision, hearing, cognitive and sensory needs, and medical conditions, such as allergies, can shape every stage of a journey. The initiative highlights these varied accessibility considerations and provides information and resources to help more travelers plan with their needs in mind.
