If you’d like to support the continued recovery in Jamaica, I’ve compiled a vetted list of government agencies, charitable organizations and resort-run foundations that are actively assisting the island’s hardest-hit areas. If you’re able to give, your help is still very much needed.

  • Support Jamaica is the government’s official relief portal and also lists needed items and volunteer opportunities.
  • The American Friends of Jamaica is a not-for profit that’s been around since 1982 and their disaster relief fund aims to raise $5 million for hurricane survivors.
  • If you’ve booked clients at Tryall, they’ll want to know about The Tryall Fund, which benefits affected employees.
  • Jamaican singer Sean Paul is spearheading donations through his eponymous foundation.
  • Food For The Poor has a donation portal and also lists opportunities for volunteers.
  • The Sandals Foundation pledges to donate 100 percent of every dollar to those in need, and you can donate online or at the front desk of any Sandals resort.
  • Established after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Global Empowerment Mission says their objective is to deliver the most amount of aid, to the most amount of people in need, in the shortest amount of time and with the least costs to donors.
  • The Rock House Foundation will provide direct support to rebuild the Savanna La Mar Inclusive School and to help its students, families, and teachers.
  • Hanover Charities has been helping people in the northwestern Jamaica parish for more than 60 years, and is also collecting funds to benefit the employees of Round Hill resort.
  • Travel industry association Caribbean Media Exchange has partnered with the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands to raise hurricane relief funds.
