Newport Beach is giving families another reason to plan a Southern California getaway with the launch of the Newport Beach Vacation Kids Club, a free program offering exclusive perks and family-focused experiences for visitors planning their next trip.
The program arrives as the destination looks to capitalize on the shoulder season, when temperatures remain warm but summer crowds begin to ease. For families looking for a beach escape after school resumes, Newport Beach offers a mix of outdoor activities, waterfront attractions and family-friendly hotels, making it an option for a shorter fall getaway.
The club is free to join and provides access to special offers, curated itineraries and recommendations designed for families. The program also highlights experiences throughout Newport Beach, from exploring the harbor to spending time on the city’s beaches.
To apply, families can access the membership here.
Family-Friendly Experiences
While visiting Newport Harbor, families can rent electric boats with no prior boating experience, paddleboard, kayak or simply explore the waterfront, with Marina Park and Lido Marina Village offering additional places to take in the harbor.
For a more traditional Newport Beach experience, the Balboa Fun Zone remains a multigenerational draw. The nearly century-old waterfront attraction features a Ferris wheel, arcade games, dining and shopping. The city’s beaches provide another easy option for families, with opportunities for swimming, surfing, volleyball and beach walks.
Family-Friendly Places to Stay
Newport Beach’s hotel lineup ranges from waterfront resorts to larger properties with dedicated children’s programming.
At Balboa Bay Resort, families can take part in the Duke the Dolphin Scavenger Hunt, a property-wide activity that sends children on photo-based missions before returning to the concierge desk for a collectible pin.
Lido House Newport Beach offers complimentary bikes, beach chairs and towels, while its beach-house-inspired accommodations provide a more residential feel. For families looking for more structured children’s programming, Pendry Newport Beach offers Paintbox, an all-day children’s club featuring arts and crafts, games, outdoor activities and meals and snacks. The hotel also offers a Friday and Saturday evening Children’s Night Out, giving parents the opportunity for some time on their own.
At The Resort at Pelican Hill, the Creative Kids Studio offers themed programming for children ages 5 to 12, with activities ranging from art and architecture to design and creative projects. VEA Newport Beach, a Marriott Resort & Spa, provides families with beach chairs, toys and umbrellas through its Play Chalet, while the resort’s house car can transport guests to Corona del Mar State Beach.
Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina provides another family option, combining accommodations with access to waterfront activities including paddleboarding, Duffy boat rides and pool time.
Planning a Newport Beach Family Getaway
The Newport Beach Vacation Kids Club gives families a starting point for planning, with destination offers and recommendations organized around different ages and interests. The program also encourages visitors to explore Newport Beach beyond the peak summer season, when families can still find warm-weather beach activities alongside the destination’s fall events and attractions.
