The St. Regis Mexico City, on Paseo de la Reforma, is undergoing a full renovation of its reception lobby, guestroom elevator lobbies, guestrooms and suites. The project began in 2025 and is scheduled for completion in September 2026; the hotel has remained open throughout construction.
“This renovation is a conscious reinterpretation of a hotel that has always set the standard for luxury in Mexico City,” said Rodrigo Rizzi, General Manager of The St. Regis Mexico City, in a press statement. “We wanted to elevate the design and the experience while staying true to what makes this property unique, deepening the emotional connection our guests feel with the destination.”
The St. Regis Mexico City: Sense of Place
The design, called The Layered Soul of Mexico, draws on the country’s geology, history and craftsmanship. Bronze light fixtures reference Purepecha metalworking traditions from Michoacan, jade accents nod to Maya ceremonial stonework and cacao tones recall Olmec origins on the Gulf Coast. Stone, marble, wood paneling and hand-woven textiles were developed with local artisans, and all furniture in the renovated spaces was custom-designed for the property.
On the third floor, the reception lobby now functions as a social space with three personalized seated reception stations replacing the traditional front desk. Two floor-to-ceiling translucent screens anchor the room, filtering light by day and glowing by night, while suspended bronze-and-copper lighting nods to the Valley of Mexico sunsets. The St. Regis Library sits along one side, where the brand’s Champagne Sabrage ritual takes place. New botanical-inspired carpets reference Caroline Astor’s interest in botanical arts.
Guestroom elevator lobbies feature a jade-inspired installation and a curved, petal-like ceiling design, easing the transition from the reception lobby to the guestroom floors.
The hotel’s 189 guestrooms and suites include new marble flooring, curved sofas and custom pendant lighting inspired by Frida Kahlo’s jewelry designs. The original headboard composition was preserved. Guestrooms now include automated lighting, blinds and climate controls, along with updated marble bathrooms, rainfall showers and heated floors.
Dining options include Diana Restaurant, King Cole Bar, La Table Krug, Caroline’s 400, Nusr-Et, Animal and Sushi Tatsugoro. The St. Regis Spa offers treatments with panoramic city views, and event spaces are supported by St. Regis Butler Service.
