ASTA Launches New Tool for Advisors to Report Supplier Issues

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) has launched a new reporting tool designed to help travel advisors flag supplier policies and industry practices that create barriers for advisors, limit competition or make it harder to serve clients.

The Report a Supplier Policy or Industry Practice Concern tool provides ASTA members with a direct channel to report recurring or widespread issues involving individual suppliers, supplier segments or the broader travel industry.

Concerns may include direct-to-consumer sales strategies, pricing inconsistencies, compensation policies, increased liability requirements for agencies and restrictions on access to supplier content or information.

Reporting Tool Expands Advocacy Efforts

“Travel advisors see firsthand where the system is falling short, and their experiences are critical to ASTA’s work on behalf of the industry,” said Zane Kerby, President and CEO of ASTA, in a press statement. “This new tool gives our members a clear way to put harmful practices on our radar so we can identify patterns, engage suppliers, inform the advisor community and determine where collective action is needed.”

The initiative expands on ASTA’s existing Report a Hotel Commission Issue program, which created a formal process for members to report unpaid hotel commissions. With the new platform, ASTA will broaden its monitoring efforts beyond hotel commission disputes to identify trends affecting advisors across the travel marketplace. Information submitted through the tool will help shape supplier conversations, member guidance and future advocacy efforts.

ASTA noted that the tool is intended for systemic business, policy or industry concerns—not individual booking disputes or transaction issues. Members seeking business-to-business dispute resolution involving an ASTA member supplier should contact ASTA directly, while unpaid hotel commissions should continue to be submitted through the organization’s dedicated reporting program.

The new reporting tool is part of ASTA’s ongoing efforts to advocate for travel advisors and address industry practices that impact advisor profitability, access and competitiveness.
