MSC Cruises has released a rendered video tour of its new Bahamian island destination, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, which opens for its first guests in November this year.
Located just 65 miles off the coast of Miami, Florida, the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve was previously an industrial sand extraction site in the Bimini chain of islands in the western Bahamas. The 120-sq.-acre island has been restored to a pristine condition and is surrounded by a 64-sq.-mile marine reserve and four smaller cays.

The new video showcases some of the island’s key areas, including the Great Lagoon Beach located in an inlet at the center of the island, which is ideal for swimming and water sports. The video also shows the island’s iconic 98-ft. tall Lighthouse, which features a Hemingway-style cocktail bar with an outside terrace.
Ocean Cay has been created with a commitment to ecological principles that have shaped everything from how its venues have been built, to how the island is run, to the kinds of activities featured on the island. One of the priorities for MSC Cruises is the restoration of coral in the area, which will ensure biodiversity, provide a continued habitat for marine animals and protect coastlines.
Beginning in November 2019, all MSC Cruises from Miami will call at Ocean Cay as part of Caribbean itineraries.
