Intrepid Travel has strengthened its active travel collection with 28 new itineraries for 2026, expanding its global program across six continents. Starting in February 2026, the itineraries include multi-active, trekking and cycling options designed for different skill levels, each graded on a 1-to-5 physical rating scale.

The expansion brings the active portfolio to 148 trips, with 21 walking and trekking programs, five multi-active adventures and two cycling tours. Intrepid reports that active travel remains its fastest-growing segment, up nine percent year-over-year, with multi-active bookings rising 23 percent. These figures align with a global increase in cycling and hiking, with segments showing steady 6 percent annual growth as more travelers seek outdoor fitness-based experiences.
Each itinerary is locally led and commissionable. The new collection allows advisors to pair short-duration, purpose-led experiences with existing Premium or Comfort programs. Highlights include a 3-day Premium Walking & Hiking in the Grand Canyon featuring guided treks on the South Kaibab, Bright Angel and Grandview trails, with accommodations at El Tovar Hotel and dinner at a local landmark. The 7-day Premium Walking & Trekking in Peru includes a 1-day section of the Inca Trail, visits to the Poc Poc Waterfall and Kinsa Qocha Lagoon and a train journey along the Urubamba River ending at Machu Picchu.
The 5-day Hiking in Mexico: Oaxaca’s Indigenous Highlands trip takes travelers through the Sierra Norte’s Zapotec villages, incorporating community lodging and regional cooking classes. Central America: Hike, Bike & Kayak is a 9-day itinerary across Guatemala and El Salvador that includes cycling in Antigua’s coffee region, hiking up Acatenango Volcano and kayaking on a volcanic lake. Croatia and Montenegro: Hike, Bike & Raft is a 7-day route through the Adriatic’s lesser-known islands and Europe’s deepest canyon. Another 6-day Iceland-based itinerary combines glacier trekking, cycling and kayaking near the volcanic island of Eldfell.
