UnCruise Adventures is opening its 2027 and 2028 Baja, Mexico, expedition cruises for booking, giving travelers a way to explore the Gulf of California aboard the 66-guest Safari Voyager while connecting with the communities and environments along the route.
Local Connections Along the Way
The expedition guides are local to the Baja area and lead excursions directly from the ship.
In Bahia Agua Verde, UnCruise’s long-standing relationship with the Romero family brings another local experience to the itinerary. The family meets the ship, bringing their mules and horses, and taking guests through the arroyo to spend time with local ranching families.
The local connection continues onboard. Seafood comes from a local fishermen’s collective, while produce is grown by families near Miraflores, Baja, specifically for UnCruise. Coffee comes from Baja Beans and beer from Baja Brewing.
Two Ways to Explore the Gulf of California
The 8-night Baja California’s Whales & Sealife itinerary sails roundtrip from San Jose del Cabo from January through March 2027 and 2028. The program combines sea lion snorkeling, volcanic hikes and wildlife viewing, with opportunities to spot whales, flying mobula rays and seabirds.
A Feb. 11, 2027, departure is designed for families, while a Jan. 21 departure features a professional photographer.
The 11-night In Steinbeck’s Wake: An Epic Voyage Through the Sea of Cortez sails in April and May 2027 and 2028, traveling farther north through the Sea of Cortez. Named for John Steinbeck’s 1940s voyage through the region, the itinerary offers opportunities to search for sperm whales, humpbacks, gray whales and whale sharks.
Both itineraries include guide-led hikes, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, along with meals and beverages, including alcoholic drinks.
Wildlife sightings can range from sea lions and dolphins to whale sharks, blue whales, humpback whales, fin whales, frigatebirds, boobies and flying mobulas.
Travelers who book by Dec. 31, 2026, can save $500 per person on 2027 and 2028 Mexico departures. Beginning in 2027, the cruise also includes the first night at the Tropicana Hotel in San Jose del Cabo, with transportation to the ship provided on day two.
