Royal Caribbean has named retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Lori J. Robinson as the official Godmother of Legend of the Seas, ahead of the ship’s U.S. debut in Fort Lauderdale this November.
Robinson, a pioneering military leader and the first woman to serve as a U.S. combatant commander, will take part in Legend of the Seas’ naming ceremony on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The event will officially welcome the ship to the U.S. while honoring veterans, active-duty service members and military families.
“I am deeply honored to be named godmother of Legend of the Seas and take part in such a special tradition for Royal Caribbean alongside my family,” said Gen. Lori J. Robinson, in a media statement. “Throughout my career, I have seen the importance of bringing people together in pursuit of a shared purpose, and Legend creates those same connections for families and loved ones.”
The ship will arrive in Fort Lauderdale following its inaugural summer season in Europe. From its South Florida homeport, Legend of the Seas will sail 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries, with Southern Caribbean voyages visiting Oranjestad, Aruba, and Willemstad, Curacao.
All itineraries will also include a stop at Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
What’s Onboard Legend of the Seas
As the latest addition to Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, Legend of the Seas will offer a mix of family-focused attractions, dining, pools and entertainment.
The ship will feature 28 dining options, including the immersive Royal Railway—Legend Station and Hollywoodland Supper Club. Guests will also have access to seven pools and thrills such as Crown’s Edge, a combination skywalk and zip line suspended 154 feet above the ocean.
Entertainment will include America’s Got Talent LIVE on Legend of the Seas and a production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
