As travelers seek fresh, meaningful ways to explore the world, leading tour operators G Adventures, Sky Vacations and Contiki are stepping up with innovative offerings for 2025 travel. From G Adventures’ 25 active trips to lesser-known regions, to Sky Vacations’ partnership with Swan Hellenic Cruises for luxury sailings, and Contiki’s launch of sober-curious itineraries across Britain and Ireland, each company is catering to the diverse interests of today’s travelers.
Exploring Lesser-Known Regions With G Adventures
G Adventures is offering 25 new active trips for this new year, exploring lesser-known regions across Japan, South Africa, Pakistan, the Galapagos, Peru, Jordan, Morocco and The Balkans.
Within the new launch, there will be eight new trips in Japan, three in Morocco and two in Pakistan, a new destination for the tour operator. The new trips cover three physical grading categories, including 3 (average), 4 (demanding) and 5 (challenging), with options for travelers with varying levels of fitness and differing appetites for higher-octane adventures.
Every destination has been specially selected to help disperse tourism within each country; so, not only will the trips take groups to new destinations, they will also help take them off-the-beaten track in existing destinations, traveling beyond Kruger National Park in South Africa, skipping the city lights to witness the unsung southern islands of Japan or staying in a community guesthouse on a rarely seen island in the Galapagos. Travelers will find themselves taking on steep hikes in Morocco’s lesser-known Rif Mountains, sandboarding down dunes just outside of Cape Town in South Africa or trekking mountain trails between Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro.
“Travelers are seeking authentic experiences, but active ones, too,” said Yves Marceau, VP of product for G Adventures, in a press release statement. “Interest has soared in this category, with more travelers wanting to switch off and connect with the world on a more physical level. We’ve hand-picked destinations with the intention of looking beyond the usual trails and, instead, are bringing travelers to lesser-visited regions and villages, via incredible hiking routes, kayak trips and biking excursions, helping to support local communities who haven’t been able to benefit from tourism in the past.”
Among the 25 new trips, which launch in March, there are the 18-day Active Japan: North to South Adventure (physical rating: 3); the 10-day Active South Africa: Cape Town, Kruger & Tugela Falls (physical rating: 4); the 10-day Pakistan: Hike the Karakoram Mountains (physical rating: 4); the 9-day Hiking in Albania, Kosovo & Montenegro (physical rating: 4); the 9-day Active Morocco: Rif Mountains (physical rating: 3); and the 17-day Active Galapagos & Machu Picchu (physical rating: 4).

Sober-Curious Itineraries with Contiki
In Contiki’s 2024 Voice of a Generation Survey, 83 percent of respondents aged 18-35 said they’d be interested in a completely sober travel experience. With that in mind, the tour operator, who welcomes travelers 18-35, has announced its first trips curated for the sober curious, including six departures across Britain and Ireland open for booking now for travel in August 2025.
“The data doesn’t lie. Young travelers are not only drinking less in general but are also increasingly curious as to what a completely sober travel experience would look like,” said Contiki CEO Adam Armstrong in a press release statement. “Of course, our travelers can still enjoy an Aperol in Rome or some Beaujolais wine at the Contiki Château if they want to, but these sober-curious trips are part of a suite of cultural experiences we offer that prioritize the buzz of travel over anything else.”
The departures are a twist on Contiki’s bestselling Great Britain & Ireland trips covering everything from Edinburgh to London, Galway to York: 18-day Great Britain & Ireland; 11-day England & Scotland; 13-day Scotland & Ireland; 6-day England in a Week; 6-day Scotland in a Week; and 8-day Ireland in a Week.
Highlights of these itineraries include (England); magic and comedy show in Bristol (England); farm-to-fork dinner in Manchester (England); evening walking tour in Dublin; yoga experience and lunch in a barn in County Wexford (Ireland); hike to Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh (Scotland); Haggis experience, Glasgow (Scotland); and a show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland).
