MSC Seascape has officially arrived at its new homeport in Galveston, marking MSC Cruises’ first operation from Texas. Beginning Nov. 9, the ship will sail year-round 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries with calls in Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico, and Isla de Roatan, Honduras. Departures are scheduled every Sunday from the Port of Galveston’s new Cruise Terminal 16, a 161,334-sq.-ft.-facility designed to accommodate the growing cruise market in the Gulf region.
“MSC Seascape is arriving in Galveston with true Texas flair, adding to the blend of European style and American comfort our guests love,” said Lynn Torrent, President, MSC Cruises North America, in a press statement. “Expanding our North American footprint to Galveston and cutting the ribbon on the port’s brand-new Cruise Terminal 16 are exciting steps for us on our path to making MSC Cruises a household name in the North American market. We’re grateful for the partnership we have with the Port of Galveston, which makes it easy and convenient for millions of new guests to enjoy the MSC Cruises experience. MSC Seascape offers the ultimate vacation at sea, and we look forward to welcoming guests and travel advisors from the region on board to discover what makes a holiday with us so special.”
A Texas-Sized Welcome for MSC Seascape
The ship’s arrival supports the Port of Galveston’s projected growth, with the port expecting 445 sailings and 3.9 million passenger movements in 2026. The cruise industry now accounts for an estimated 4,547 local jobs and generates around $733 million in business revenue.
MSC Seascape is among the line’s largest ships, featuring 2,270 cabins and 11 dining venues. Its design blends MSC Cruises’ European influence with elements tailored to the Texas market. New culinary offerings reflect Gulf Coast and Southern flavors, while multiple bars will feature regionally inspired drinks. Entertainment additions include a resident country band, dueling pianos, line dance classes and the Big Texas Sailaway party.
Families will find extensive amenities, including more than 7,500 sq. ft. of children’s spaces and attractions such as the Formula 1 racing simulator and Robotron, a robotic amusement ride that combines motion with music and lighting. The ship’s MSC Yacht Club, a dedicated access-controlled section, features a private restaurant, bar, pool deck and 24-hour butler service for clients seeking a more premium experience.
As part of its debut, MSC Cruises has partnered with NBC’s TODAY to introduce “Read With Jenna” and “Read With Jenna Jr.” reading nooks aboard the ship. The installations include curated book selections and dedicated spaces for guests of all ages.
