Aurora Expeditions Launches Photography Voyage, Deepens Sustainability Initiatives

Following strong demand for its sold-out Antarctica: Through the Lens voyage, Aurora Expeditions has unveiled a new photography-focused Arctic itinerary—Iceland & East Greenland: Through the Lens—now open for 2027 bookings.

Departing July 31, 2027, aboard the expedition vessel Sylvia Earle, the 11-day voyage is designed to immerse travelers in some of the Arctic’s most photogenic landscapes, combining extended time in the field with expert-led instruction from world-class photographers.

Photography-Led Expedition Experience

The voyage features a lineup of guest photographers, including Scott Portelli, Peter Eastway, David Vargas and Wayne Sorensen, who will lead onboard workshops, image reviews and in-field guidance.

Sustainability and Responsible Exploration

As Earth Day approaches, Aurora is highlighting its commitment to responsible exploration. The company continues to emphasize low-impact travel through strict environmental standards.

Aurora operates a fleet of purpose-built, low-impact vessels—including the Sylvia Earle, Greg Mortimer and Douglas Mawson—equipped with fuel-efficient engines, advanced waste management systems and a ban on single-use plastics. The Sylvia Earle recently became the first Infinity Class ship to trial 100 percent biofuel, helping to reduce maritime emissions.

The company is also advancing sustainability through new technology, including an AI-powered navigation system aboard Douglas Mawson to optimize fuel efficiency, and introducing microfiber filtration systems aimed at reducing microplastic pollution.

Each voyage contributes to Aurora’s Ocean Regeneration Program, which supports marine conservation efforts by funding the planting of marine life and removing ocean-bound waste per passenger.
