Located at Quay 7 on the V&A Waterfront, The Cape Town EDITION overlooks the destination’s new superyacht marina, placing guests within walking distance of museums, art galleries, restaurants and upscale shopping.

“The opening of The Cape Town EDITION is an important milestone in the V&A Waterfront’s continued evolution and a strong expression of confidence in Cape Town as a globally competitive tourism and investment destination,” said Graham Wood, Chief Executive Officer of the V&A Waterfront, in a press statement.

Maritime Heritage Meets Contemporary African Design

Designed by Shanghai-based architecture and design studio Neri&Hu in collaboration with Cape Town-based architects and professionals, The Cape Town EDITION takes inspiration from the industrial character of the working harbor.

More than six million bricks, laid by hand in shifting patterns, give the building a textured facade. At the center of the hotel, The Drum creates a dramatic open-air focal point. A cylindrical space rises through the building, with a spiral staircase leading to an outdoor viewing platform overlooking the harbor, Table Mountain and the Atlantic.

The hotel’s 142 guestrooms and suites continue the design approach, with large windows framing the surrounding landscape. The accommodations include a Harbour Suite and a Penthouse Suite, both offering generous living areas and panoramic views.

Dining and Public Spaces

The Cape Town EDITION’s culinary program spans restaurants, bars and social spaces led by Executive Chef Phil Carmichael and South African beverage partner George Hunter. The offerings draw on the Cape’s seafood, farms, vineyards and culinary traditions.

The Cape Town EDITION Punch Room.

Shale, the signature restaurant, centers its seasonal menus on local farmers, coastal fisheries, winemakers and independent producers. The wine list features South African labels. On the rooftop, EAVE pairs indoor-outdoor dining with views across the city and harbor. Set beside the heated pool, the restaurant and bar transitions from daytime meals to cocktails after sunset.

The adjoining Pool Terrace offers breakfast, casual daytime dining and light evening meals. At ground level, the Lobby Bar provides a more relaxed gathering space for coffee meetings, light bites and drinks.

For a more intimate evening, Punch Room takes inspiration from the historic punch houses associated with global trade routes. Wood paneling, velvet seating and low lighting set the mood for sharing drinks served in bowls.

A Rooftop Pool, Spa and Wellness Program

Wellness offerings range from a heated rooftop pool and sun deck to a spa tucked below sea level, away from the activity of the Waterfront. The spa features five treatment rooms, a couples’ suite, a sauna and steam room, along with infrared beds and Therabody recovery boots. Treatments combine massage, skincare, fascia work and aromatherapy, including mineral-rich formulations from Omorovicza. Guests can also use the 24-hour gym or join scheduled yoga, breathwork, sound baths and movement sessions.
