Hilton has brought its Curio Collection by Hilton brand to Hawaii for the first time with the opening of Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi, a 210-room resort overlooking Nawiliwili Bay and Kalapaki Beach.

“The opening of Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi marks an exciting milestone as we introduce Curio Collection by Hilton to Hawaii,” said Danny Hughes, President, Americas, Hilton, in a press statement. “For more than six decades, Hilton has been proud to welcome guests to the islands, sharing the warmth and hospitality of our team members. Hale Hōkūala builds on that legacy with a resort that reflects the rich culture and spirit of Kauaʻi while offering travelers a truly unique way to experience the destination.”

The new property gives travel advisors another option for clients planning a Hawaiian getaway, particularly those drawn to Kauaʻi’s natural landscapes, local culture and outdoor experiences. The opening also expands Hilton’s presence across the Hawaiian Islands, where the company operates nearly 30 hotels.

A Resort Inspired by Kauai’s Landscape

Hale Hōkūala, which means “House of the Rising Star,” features 210 rooms, including 23 suites. Floor-to-ceiling windows, private lanais and interiors inspired by the island’s colors and textures bring the surrounding landscape into the guest experience. Views extend across the Pacific Ocean, Hāʻupu Mountain and the Ocean Course at Hōkūala.

Artwork throughout the property highlights local cultural heritage and the relationship between the land, ocean and community.

Local Flavors Take Center Stage

The resort’s culinary program draws on the diverse influences that shape Hawaii’s food culture, including Native Hawaiian, Portuguese, Polynesian and Asian traditions.

At Figueira, the resort’s signature restaurant, guests can experience what the resort describes as Kauai’s only Portuguese-Hawaiian dining concept. The menu combines island-grown ingredients with Portuguese culinary traditions, with dishes ranging from Kauai prawns and Portuguese Fisherman’s Stew to pastel de nata and malasadas.

For a more casual option, The Wiliwili at Hale Hōkūala serves poolside fare, including poke bowls, plate lunches, tropical cocktails and smoothies made with local ingredients.

Cultural Experiences Connect Guests With the Island

Hale Hōkūala’s signature cultural immersion program, E Ala Ka Pilina, or “The Awakening of Connection,” brings guests closer to the people and traditions that shape Kauai. Developed with local practitioners, historians, educators, artisans, nonprofits and community organizations, the program combines on-property activities, off-property excursions and culinary storytelling.

The Kauaʻi Museum will serve as the program’s inaugural partner, with experiences exploring the island’s history and creative expression. Future programming will highlight agriculture, lei making, traditional aquaculture, land stewardship, hula and Hawaiian storytelling.

Beyond the resort, guests can access a range of recreational and wellness amenities, including a pool and fitness center, a full-service spa, wellness programming, tennis and pickleball courts within the wider Hōkūala community.

The resort’s location near Līhue Airport provides a convenient starting point for exploring other parts of Kauai, including Hanalei Bay, the North Shore, Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe State Park.

To mark the opening, the resort is offering a Kauaʻi Island Escape package with 25 percent off the hotel’s best available rate for stays of three nights or longer.
