Madrid’s charming streets, friendly people, and amazing food, including those renowned, tapas had me in a state of bliss during a recent visit. While strolling through Parque el Retiro we stopped at the Palacio de Cristal for a few photo-ops, and watched others enjoying a canoe ride on the lake. Then, during more sightseeing we stopped by Palacio Real, and later took a detour to Mercado San Miguel, filled to the brim with beers, tapas, and Spanish treats—a perfect spot for lunch or a pre-dinner bite. But a trip to Madrid would not have been complete without enjoying the delicious churros and hot chocolate at Chocolateria San Gines. The lines were long during some of our attempts, but a morning stop at this spot that’s open 24/7, got us through the door quickly. And my favorite dining experience was dinner and a flamenco show at Corral de la Moreira, which has been visited by celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman, Michael Douglas, and Harrison Ford, just to name a few.
