Miami will soon welcome an impressive new development project that is expected to add 1,800 guestrooms and approximately 600,000 sq. ft. of meeting and exhibition space to the downtown area. The $750 million Marriott Marquis Miami Worldcenter Hotel & Expo Center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2018 in the Park West area of Miami and feature five-star hotel service and advanced technology for the meetings market.

“This project is not only transformative to downtown Miami, but to the region as a whole, creating a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, 1,800-room hotel with over 600,000 sq. ft. of very much needed exhibition and meeting space,” said Joseph Herndon, director of development for MDM Group, at a recent press conference. “It will help us attract the type of domestic and international meetings and conferences which we simply have not been able to host previously due to space constraint and other issues. Marriott International’s participation only adds to the glamour of the project.”

Plans for the 2.3 million-sq.-ft. hotel include two ballrooms totaling 110,000 sq. ft., 100,000 ft. of exhibition space, 390,000 sq. ft. of meeting and outdoor event space, and 1,094 parking spaces. The project developer is MDM Group and the architect is Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates.
