Uganda Safari Packages: Gorillas, Chimps and More

Travel advisors looking to introduce clients to wildlife experiences in Uganda have two safari packages to consider from Nkuringo Safaris, a Ugandan-owned safari company offering journeys that combine gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, wildlife encounters and community-based tourism.

The company’s 8-day Gorillas & Chimps Adventure Safari and 13-day Explore Uganda Safari cater to travelers seeking different levels of exploration, from a shorter primate-focused itinerary to a more extensive journey through Uganda’s national parks.

Designed for travelers interested in primate encounters, the 8-day fly-in itinerary includes gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park.

Guests spend three nights at Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge and three nights at Mirima Kibale Lodge, with domestic flights helping reduce travel time between destinations. Additional experiences include a guided walk and canoe excursion on Lake Mutanda, with optional community visits, nature walks and cultural experiences.

Conservation and Community at the Core
Founded by CEO Lydia Eva Mpanga, Nkuringo Safaris traces its roots to a campsite established in 2007 near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and a community walking initiative designed to create employment opportunities for local youth.

Today, the company operates tailor-made safaris across Uganda and Rwanda, with an emphasis on conservation and community engagement. Through partnerships with local communities and the Gorilla Junction Foundation, tourism revenue supports local livelihoods, enterprises and conservation awareness.

“Our vision has always been to create meaningful travel experiences that protect our natural heritage while ensuring local communities benefit directly from tourism,” says Mpanga. “We believe that conservation, community development and exceptional guest experiences should go hand in hand.”
