Intrepid Travel has introduced a new Premium Walking and Trekking range. This collection of 10 new itineraries, tailored for the North American market, combines iconic hiking trails with upscale accommodations and exclusive local experiences.

Intrepid’s Focus Segments

The new range addresses the growing demand for both active and premium travel segments. Since its launch in 2022, Intrepid’s Premium category has been its fastest-growing travel style. Concurrently, Walking and Trekking sales have increased nearly ninefold, indicating strong market potential for this hybrid offering.

“In recent years, we’ve seen growing demand for active travel, as well as rising interest in the elevated stays offered on our Premium trips,” said Erica Kritikides, General Manager of Experiences at Intrepid Travel, in a press statement. “Our new Premium Walking and Trekking range is a natural and exciting evolution—bringing together the best of both worlds for travelers who embody Intrepid’s adventurous spirit but don’t want to compromise on comfort.

Intrepid’s small-group trips, averaging 10 travelers, feature expert local leaders and carefully selected premium accommodations. The itineraries are designed to appeal to the expanding demographic of active luxury travelers, particularly those over 50.

Among the standout offerings is a 3-day Premium Hiking trip in the Grand Canyon. Participants explore the best trails in the Grand Canyon while staying at the historic El Tovar Hotel on the South Rim. In Morocco, a 9-day premium trek takes hikers through the Tiziane Valley in the High Atlas Mountains and along the coast of Essaouira, with stays in a traditional riad in Marrakech.

The 6-day Premium Walking and Hiking in Madeira itinerary includes a hike to Pico Ruivo, the archipelago’s highest point, offering panoramic views of volcanic landscapes and beaches. Travelers also enjoy local cuisine and visit a winery to sample Madeira’s renowned wines.

In Jordan, a 7-day premium hiking experience combines stays in luxury desert camps and an eco-lodge with treks through the Dana Biosphere Reserve and the ancient city of Petra. The trip showcases the best of Jordanian hospitality, food and wine.

For travel advisors, Intrepid’s new offerings present several advantages. The premium pricing structure offers high commission potential, while the range of trip durations (from 3 to 6 days) allows for flexible itinerary planning. Shorter trips can serve as add-ons to multi-stop itineraries, providing advisors with versatile options for their clients.

Bookings for the new Premium Walking and Trekking trips opened in August 2025, with the first departures scheduled for January 2026.
