Royalton Hotels & Resorts has outlined a company-wide relief initiative for Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, focusing on restoring operations and supporting employees, nearby communities and the island’s tourism sector. The company confirmed that recovery efforts will continue through 2026, emphasizing staff welfare and operational readiness as priorities while repair work progresses at affected properties.
“As we move through this period, our priority is ensuring that our hotels remain safe places for both guests and staff,” said Daniel Lozano, Senior Vice President of Operations at Royalton Hotels & Resorts, in a press statement. “At the same time, this does not lessen our commitment to our teams and communities in Jamaica. The island’s spirit of hospitality has always inspired us, and we remain focused on supporting our people and working together toward a strong recovery.”
Immediately after the storm, Royalton activated a coordinated response across its resorts in Jamaica. The company distributed clean water produced by its Reverse Osmosis Plants to local communities, provided temporary housing to staff with severe home damage, issued financial assistance for those with significant losses and delivered grocery packages to all employees at the impacted hotels. These short-term measures were combined with extended support programs that included additional monetary relief and seasonal assistance to help employees maintain stability.
Regional outreach has expanded through Royalton’s Caribbean network, where donation drives and coordinated volunteer initiatives have strengthened support for Jamaica. Sister properties across neighboring islands are contributing to broader community-focused efforts that address social and infrastructure needs beyond the resorts themselves.
As part of its recovery strategy, over 200 employees will remain on-site to oversee maintenance and preservation operations at affected properties. At the same time, Royalton has reassigned management and select associates to task force positions across its Caribbean resorts. These assignments provide continued employment and professional development opportunities through hands-on training and leadership rotations.
