Finding ‘Quiet Luxury’ in Frankfurt

There are plenty of reasons Frankfurt, Germany, deserves a place on a traveler’s list, from its rich history and striking architecture to its dynamic arts, culture and culinary scene. Now, there’s another worth considering: a new five-star experience at The Florentin. For travelers who value thoughtful design, personal service, exceptional dining and a hotel that becomes part of the journey itself—and most certainly your luxury clients qualify—the property offers a compelling inclusion in a Frankfurt itinerary.

Opened in December 2025, The Florentin pairs contemporary architecture with a historic residence originally built in 1901, creating an unexpected sense of calm within its urban setting. This Leading Hotels of the World property is part of the Althoff Collection, a portfolio built around individually distinctive luxury hotels and highly personalized hospitality. The Florentin delivers on that promise with exemplary service, sophisticated design and an attention to detail.

From the moment of my arrival, that level of service set the tone for what I could expect throughout the stay. Check-in felt personalized rather than prescribed. I was escorted to my suite and introduced to the space, where gracious touches, including a welcome note and a beautifully presented pastry, were already waiting for me. It’s an arrival that felt warm and genuine rather than overly formal, offering an early indication of the level of care that carried throughout my time at the property.

That attention to detail extends to the property’s design, where greenery is woven throughout interiors that move between bright, colorful spaces and warmer, more intimate environments. At the center is a beautifully landscaped courtyard that brings a surprising sense of tranquility to the urban setting. The result feels sophisticated yet inviting, creating the kind of hotel where spending time on property becomes part of the trip rather than simply where visitors to Frankfurt return at the end of the day.

The experience is intentional. As Carmen Hackmann, the property’s Director of Sales and Marketing, explains, “Every stay at The Florentin begins with a carefully choreographed sense of arrival,” which takes guests from the softly lit lobby through a palm-lined corridor before the space opens onto the courtyard. “That journey from muted arrival to sudden light is the essence of what we call ‘quiet luxury’: nothing needs to be loud to leave an impression.”

That sense of “quiet luxury” carries into the hotel’s 147 rooms and suites. Warm woods, textured fabrics and marble are complemented by decorative accents that give the accommodations character while maintaining a consistent aesthetic. Categories vary considerably, from standard guestrooms to accommodations with terraces, fireplaces and separate living areas.

Among those options, the Loft Suites offer an excellent example of how design and comfort come together. An inviting foyer leads into a separate living room featuring a fireplace and sofa, along with a dedicated dining space. Beyond it, the sleeping area includes a king-size bed and views over the courtyard, while the spacious bathroom combines dramatic black marble with a soaking tub, separate shower and double vanity. A large closet and premium in-room amenities add practical comfort, particularly ideal for clients incorporating Frankfurt into a longer European itinerary.

Perhaps one of the property’s most distinctive features is The Villa. Originally built for banker and philanthropist Eduard Beit von Speyer, the historic residence has been incorporated into The Florentin while maintaining an identity of its own. Its nine Signature Suites are complemented by private gathering spaces, including sitting and dining rooms, a sunroom and wine cellars. The entire Villa can also be reserved for clients seeking greater privacy, with a separate entrance and direct access to the hotel’s amenities.

The arrangement creates interesting possibilities for multigenerational families, celebrations, groups of friends, VIP travelers or clients who prefer the intimacy and independence of a private residence while retaining the service and amenities of a five-star hotel.

Dining adds another dimension to the experience. The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Garden, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with indoor and courtyard seating and a menu centered on modern European cuisine. Families with little ones are also accommodated with a dedicated children’s menu. Serious gastronomers will want to make reservations at the dune, which is led by Chef Niclas Nußbaumer and received two Michelin stars in 2026. Recommendation: Go for the intimate 7-course dining experience. The Florentin Bar completes the onsite culinary picture with expertly prepared cocktails and an extensive wine selection.

Beyond dining, the property provides plenty of opportunity to slow down. Its spa and wellness facilities include an indoor pool, treatment rooms, relaxation area and sauna, along with a fitness center.

So, who is the right client for The Florentin? Its combination of privacy, design, dining, wellness and varied accommodations makes it a strong option for couples, families, culinary travelers and business travelers looking to extend a trip for leisure.

Hackmann points to a common thread among those guests: “What unites them all is a preference for something more intimate, local and distinctive over scale; guests who value design, privacy and personal service, and who are drawn to properties with a genuine story rather than a familiar name.”

Ultimately, that may be what distinguishes The Florentin most. It doesn’t require choosing between the amenities and service of a contemporary five-star hotel and the character of a more intimate property. The Florentin offers elements of both, giving advisors another option in Frankfurt for clients who want where they stay to be considered as carefully as the places they visit.
