ETS Tours Highlights Germany Heritage Tours and Faith-Based Travel

As Protestant Christians observe Reformation Month this October, ETS Tours is spotlighting its 2027 Germany heritage journeys and a special two-part ETS Travel Podcast series exploring the lives and legacies of Martin Luther and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

The initiatives give travel advisors, church leaders and group travel planners new ways to engage travelers interested in Christian history, European heritage and faith-based experiences.

The itinerary, Reformation in Germany—In the Footsteps of Martin Luther, takes travelers to the historic sites associated with Luther and the Protestant Reformation, while the podcast series explores the theological convictions and historical events that shaped Luther’s legacy and Bonhoeffer’s later resistance to Nazi control of Protestant churches. The trip departs on Oct. 5, 2027.

Explore Martin Luther’s Historic Journey Through Germany

Travelers will visit Eisleben, Luther’s birthplace; Erfurt, where he studied and lived as a monk; and Wittenberg, where his teachings helped spark the Protestant Reformation. The journey also includes Wartburg Castle near Eisenach, where Luther translated the New Testament into German while in hiding.

Additional stops include Worms, where Luther refused to recant his teachings before imperial authorities, and Mainz, a historic center of printing whose technological advances helped ideas spread throughout Europe.

For church groups and faith-based travelers, the itinerary combines historical exploration with opportunities for reflection, discussion and fellowship.
