Scenic Group has three additional luxury river ships planned for 2027 and 2028. The announcement marks a continuation of the company’s growth strategy as it celebrates 40 years in 2026. The development includes one Emerald Star-Ship and two Scenic Space-Ships, extending their presence on the Douro and Mekong rivers.

Emerald Nova, Launching June 2027
Emerald Nova will be the second Emerald vessel on Portugal’s Douro River, joining Emerald Radiance. The ship will operate two itineraries designed around extended regional exploration. The 11-day Douro Highlights: Porto, Salamanca & the Wine Valley itinerary will include active tours such as guided hikes and kayaking. Emerald Nova will also offer a second itinerary focused on additional Douro Valley experiences.
Scenic Aria, Launching Sept. 2027
Scenic Aria will join Scenic Azure on the Douro River, expanding the brand’s fleet in Portugal. The vessel will operate the 11-day Unforgettable Douro and 8-day Delightful Douro cruises. Both itineraries center around a fully inclusive product, with dining, excursions and services included in the fare.
Scenic Spirit II, Launching Early 2028
Scenic Spirit II will sail the Mekong River through Vietnam and Cambodia, following increased demand for Southeast Asia sailings. It will complement the existing Scenic Spirit, offering itineraries designed to highlight the region’s natural and cultural features.
This latest announcement follows previously confirmed builds such as Emerald Astra, launching in May 2026 on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, and Emerald Lumi, planned for 2027 on France’s Seine River. Scenic’s yacht division will also add three new vessels in the next three years: Emerald Kaia in April 2026, Emerald Raiya in 2027 and Emerald Xara in 2028. Scenic Ikon, a new-generation ocean ship, is under construction for delivery in 2028. This is Scenic Group’s most extensive expansion period in almost 10 years.
