As Pride Month celebrations continue to drive tourism across the U.S., Chicago is welcoming visitors with a diverse lineup of LGBTQ+ events that extend beyond the city’s renowned Pride Parade.
From baseball at Wrigley Field to waterfront festivities at Navy Pier and community-focused celebrations on the South Side, Chicago’s Pride programming offers travelers multiple ways to experience the city’s vibrant LGBTQ+ culture throughout June and early July.
Pride Parade, Baseball & More
The 55th annual Chicago Pride Parade will start at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 28. Admission is free. This year’s theme is “Free to Be Proud.”
One of the season’s highlights takes place June 15, when the Chicago Cubs host their annual Pride Celebration at Wrigley Field during an evening matchup against the Colorado Rockies. The event combines America’s pastime with a celebration of inclusivity, featuring local LGBTQ+-owned businesses, live entertainment and community engagement opportunities.
On June 27, Navy Pier will transform its iconic lakefront setting into a hub of Pride festivities during Navy Pier Pride. The free, daylong event will feature live music, performances by local LGBTQIA+ artists, educational programming and resources from community organizations, offering visitors an accessible way to participate in Pride celebrations while enjoying one of Chicago’s most recognizable attractions.
That same weekend, Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood will host the Back Lot Bash, one of the country’s most established Pride events dedicated to women. Running June 27-28, the block-party-style celebration has been a community staple for more than two decades and will feature a full lineup of live music and DJ performances.
Travelers extending their stay into July can continue the celebration at Pride South Side on July 5. Held at The DuSable Black History Museum in Washington Park, the event highlights the diversity of Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community through live performances, dancing, local vendors and cultural programming.
