A 1920s former Baptist Church in Pensacola is getting a new lease on life as a luxury boutique lodging house with a restaurant and speakeasy. Lily Hall is due to open its doors to guests this fall.

The historic, 3-story property will have 15 guestrooms, each with its own distinct personality and decorated with nostalgic pieces such as vintage record players and typewriters. The historic theme is carried throughout Lily Hall with various details including the reuse of the church’s original stained-glass windows. Locally inspired dishes will be served in its onsite restaurant, Brother Fox, which is named after one of the former pastors at the church. Guests in need of a cocktail can try Sister Hen, an old fashioned-styled speakeasy that can only be accessed with a password. Lily Halll will also have indoor and outdoor spaces designed to host social or corporate events and weddings.

Located in the historic East Hill district of Pensacola, the property was built in 1928 for the congregation of the Mount Olive Baptist Church. It was abandoned after sustaining heavy damage during Hurricane Ivan in 2004, and had been on Pensacola’s “Seven to Save” list of endangered buildings. Nashville-based developers Stahlman Hospitality acquired the building and has worked with designers Smith Gee Studio and local architects Dalrymple Sallison on a new concept for the site.
