I walked into heaven when I stepped into Haven Riviera Cancun. This adults-only, all-suite beachfront oasis with a focus on wellness does not disappoint.
I visited for the soft opening in early October (as of press time, the resort is expected to be fully running this month), and though a few things were still getting tweaked such as the downstairs restaurant, the gym, and the spa, it was apparent to me that Haven will be a wellness-infused peaceful sanctuary for your clients.
Haven is positioned as a wellness, adults-only, “all-exclusive” property, and when asked what sets them apart from other properties that claim to be wellness-focused, Florian Connert, the resort’s head of sales, marketing, and distribution, says, “A lot of properties want to be, but they are not. Like they say they’re LGBT friendly, but if the owner is very Catholic, they don’t want LGBT weddings. In the end, you’re either pregnant or you’re not,” he says with a chuckle. In other words, you’re either wellness or you’re not; you can’t be a little wellness…and here the wellness experience truly delivers.
Wellness with a Maya & Holistic Twist
“We want this place to help our guest to achieve transformation and abundance in different areas of their lives,” says Jelena Ilic, the resort’s spa director. “We offer a full menu of services, including personalized tea ceremonies, Tibetan healing, energy healing/reiki, and a bio magnetic analyzer test.”
For the unique tea ceremony experience, guests are welcomed with a neck massage and invited to choose from a selection of tea leaves, and the resort’s shaman provides a tea leaf reading for the spa-goer.
Another unique aspect of the wellness services is a health assessment with a bio magnetic analyzer. After the assessment, the spa director walks your client through their results, and a copy is available for them to take with them. These assessments can
also help them choose the ideal spa treatment, and those staying at the resort
for a longer duration following their wellness assessment, the recommended nutrition component can be incorporated into their meals.
“If a guest conducts the bio magnetic analyzer at the beginning of their 7-day stay, for instance, we would be able to support implementing lifestyle changes right away. We could suggest low-carb, heart-healthy room service options, for instance, customize meals at restaurants, swap our sugary drinks for only water in mini bars and schedule a series of follow-up treatments during their stay to provide a comprehensive transformational experience,” says Ilic.
In addition, the MySenses spa features a complete water journey, nine treatment rooms, the Luxury Sensory Journey Suite, a Luxury Party Suite and a Luxury Bridal Suite.
“The 17,000-sq.-ft. MySenses spa is complemented by a full-service fitness center with top-of-the-line equipment right next door. The gym features cardio machines, a free weight area, and kinesis Pilates. We offer complimentary yoga, Pilates, TRX fitness and beach CrossFit classes. We are going to have a different activity program each day with certified fitness instructors starting this month,” Ilic points out. And “by 2019, we want to host different educative events like reiki certifications and retreats, Tibetan healing classes, and traditional Mayan healing.”
Beyond Pampering
The property, located 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport, features 333 jr. suites and suites; 109 units are part of the Serenity Club, which offers an exclusive check-in area and 24/7 butler service, plus a Serenity Club Lounge offering premium wines, spirits and various finger food throughout the day. Serenity Club customers also enjoy a daily exclusive a la carte breakfast option served overlooking the ocean or pool, an invitation-only weekly manager’s cocktail reception, pillow and aromatherapy menus, and special VIP treats.
There are also four a la carte restaurants, and one main buffet-style restaurant, plus three snack bars, as well as nine bars, including two swim-ups and a coffee shop that serves ice cream. There’s also plenty of in-room comfort such as 24/7 room service, and all pools can be heated if needed—even the personal swim-outs. Guests can also request for their mini bar and fridge to be personalized before their arrival.
