A selection of new hotels are opening in various North American destinations. These new properties promise unique experiences for your clients looking for a mix of local charm,  modern luxury and cultural authenticity.

Nature Awaits

Nature calls at the new Trailborn Highlands. Situated near the Great Smoky Mountains in Highland, NC, the property is the third in the Trailborn portfolio after the opening of sister hotels the Trailborn Rocky Mountains and Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost in Colorado. 

Set to open this summer, Trailborn Highlands is surrounded by 4.5 acres of woodlands. The property features 63 guestrooms in different categories, from a Queen Patio Room to a King Balcony Room and The Garden Suite. All rooms have free WiFi, Grown Alchemist bath products, custom furnishings and a complimentary cooler for guests interested in hiking the area’s local trails. Select rooms also offer garden patios, gas fireplaces and balconies with lounge chairs.

The hotel offers various gathering spaces for events. The Azalea Room functions as a versatile hospitality suite and private venue ideal for bridal parties, meetings and other large gatherings. The Cottage is an additional private space housed in a log cabin that can also be reserved for larger group events. Guests interested in exploring the surrounding woodlands and nearby attractions have access to the hotel’s field guide, which provides information on the best spots for fly fishing and zip lining, as well as locations to nearby lakes, trails and waterfalls. 

Coming in the fall is the opening of the Nordic Spa and The Highlands Supper Club, the hotel’s restaurant and bar serving Southern cuisine in a historic log cabin setting.

A Desert Oasis

Set to debut this September is the new Thompson Palm Springs, a 168-guestroom hotel located in the trendy Design District neighborhood of Palm Springs, CA. 

Offering uniquely designed rooms and suites that mirror the area’s modern feel and desert vibes, the Thompson Palm Springs features two rooftop pools with cabanas, an outdoor bar serving bites and cocktails and a fitness center. The hotel will also include a section named the Upper Stories, an adults-only tower housing five suites and a pool. With the desert as its muse, each guestroom and suite is designed with neutral furnishings, ample natural lighting and splashes of color.

Also opening soon at the Thompson Palm Springs is the much-anticipated Lola Rose Grand Mezze restaurant serving Eastern Mediterranean cuisine by Chef Quentin Garcia, and the HALL Napa Valley Tasting Room, an indoor and outdoor tasting room serving award-winning HALL, WALT and BACA wines. The Thompson Palm Springs is also an ideal location for events with its 8,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

Capital Luxury Redefined

Opening in the fall is the 445-room Arlo Washington DC, Arlo Hotel’s first property in D.C. and its seventh in the U.S.

Ideal for both leisure and business travelers, Arlo Washington DC is located in the city’s Judiciary Square neighborhood, four blocks from Union Station and less than a mile from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The hotel sits where The Harrison Apartments, the city’s oldest-known surviving apartment complex, once stood; Arlo Hotels is leading the complete restoration and preservation of the building.

Once complete, Arlo Washington DC will feature a rooftop lounge and pool, four meeting rooms, a restaurant and bar, a “bodega” cafe and lounge, an interior courtyard and more.

Reservations will be accepted in November. Hotel bookings made by Oct. 1 will receive 30 percent off their stay through March 2025.

Modern Flair in a Mountain Town

White Elephant Resorts is set to bring its blend of service, style and hospitality to Aspen with the upcoming White Elephant Aspen Hotel. Designed in collaboration with Boston-based architectural firm EMBARC, this 54-room property will debut in late Fall 2025 in Aspen’s West End neighborhood.

The hotel will offer the flexibility to connect rooms into multi-bedroom suites, ideal for families and large parties. Accommodations include the 730-sq.-ft., two-bedroom suite or the 1,660-sq.-ft. Penthouse Suite, which boasts three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining space and a private balcony with mountain views. The hotel will also include an outdoor pool and offer guests complimentary bicycles to explore the town. 

As a nod to its sister hotels in Nantucket and Palm Beach, the Aspen property will include elephant door knockers on each room and suite. White Elephant has also extended its long-standing partnership with BMW, offering complimentary courtesy cars around town, and in winter, a shuttle to and from the ski slopes for guests. In keeping with its sister hotels, White Elephant Aspen will also forgo resort fees.

Adults Only in Hawaii

The adults-only Romer House Waikiki is the perfect getaway for travelers seeking a Hawaiian escape for fun and relaxation—and free from the bustle of family crowds.
