Miami Sets Tourism Record in 2024

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) announced that Miami-Dade’s tourism industry is thriving, welcoming a record-breaking 28 million visitors in 2024—the highest annual total recorded.

These visitors contributed $22 billion in direct spending and generated $2.2 billion in state and local tax revenue. The region’s visitor economy now supports more than 209,000 tourism-related jobs, the highest number to date. International travel to Miami experienced gains as well with Colombia, Brazil and the U.K. increasing by 8 percent, 12 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

A Standout Year for Hotel Performance

In 2024, Miami-Dade led the state in hotel occupancy and ranked #4 nationally in occupancy and #3 in average daily rate among the top 25 U.S. hotel markets. Growth continued into 2025, with the destination currently ranking #1 in revenue per available room and occupancy year-to-date.

Commitment to Sustainability, Inclusion & Small Business

Sustainability efforts continue with 71 local hotels now Green Key Global certified, catering to eco-conscious travelers. The GMCVB is partnering with Wheel the World to become a “Destination Verified” location for travelers with disabilities. Its new “It’s Where You Belong” campaign will spotlight accessible attractions as part of the broader “Find Your Miami” initiative.

Support for neurodivergent travelers is also growing, with more partners becoming Certified Autism Centers. The GMCVB and the Miami Beach Convention Center were recently featured in the April 2025 Autism Adventure Guide.

Over the past year, the Tourism Business Enhancement program backed 147 multicultural small businesses, reinforcing the diversity and local impact of the tourism ecosystem. The Art of Black Miami initiative produced 66 activations during Art Week—a 266 percent increase since launch—expanding into 14 neighborhoods. This month, the Black Hospitality Initiative raised a record $250,000 in scholarships, investing in future hospitality leaders.
