Tropic Ocean Airways Launches Fort Lauderdale-Key West Flights

Tropic Ocean Airways is launching scheduled flights between Fort Lauderdale and Key West on Nov. 27, giving travelers a new way to reach the Florida Keys without the lengthy drive along the Overseas Highway.

The approximately one-hour flight will operate Thursday through Sunday, departing from Sheltair Aviation at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and arriving at Signature Aviation at Key West International Airport (EYW).

Unlike traditional commercial flights, the service operates between private aviation terminals, allowing passengers to bypass the main commercial terminals. Travelers can arrive just 30 minutes before departure and receive complimentary valet and multi-day parking, a baggage allowance with every seat, access to a private lobby with WiFi, snacks and beverages and pet-friendly travel.

Same-Day Key West Getaways

Alongside the new route, Tropic Ocean Airways is introducing Keys in a Day, a same-day getaway package designed for travelers who want to experience Key West without booking an overnight stay.

The package includes roundtrip flights on the same calendar day, complimentary valet parking and access to the airline’s private lobby. Travelers will have approximately eight hours to explore Key West, including Old Town, local restaurants, shops and attractions, or enjoy activities on the water before returning to Fort Lauderdale by early evening.

The offering creates another option for travelers looking for a short Florida escape, particularly those based in the Fort Lauderdale and greater South Florida area.

Private Seaplane Charters Coming to The Perry Marina

Tropic Ocean Airways is also introducing private charter water landings at The Perry Marina on Stock Island, offering a different arrival experience for travelers seeking the airline’s signature seaplane service.

The airline is working with Integra Investments to build a dedicated seaplane dock at the marina. Until construction is complete, private charter guests arriving by seaplane will be transferred by boat to the property.

The private charter experience will be separate from the scheduled Fort Lauderdale-Key West flights, which will continue to arrive at Key West International Airport.

What Travel Advisors Should Know

The new scheduled service gives travel advisors another transportation option to consider when planning Key West getaways for South Florida clients. The Keys in a Day offering may appeal to travelers with limited time who want to experience the destination without arranging accommodations, while private charters offer an alternative for clients seeking a more personalized arrival.
