JW Marriott is making its entry into the all-inclusive market with the opening of JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort & Spa this fall on Costa Rica‘s Guanacaste Coast.
Reservations are now open for the 415-room beachfront resort located within the Costa Elena community in Guanacaste. Developed within a 3,000-acre protected landscape of tropical dry forest and a Blue Star-designated beach, the resort emphasizes low-density development, conservation and locally inspired design.
Architecture draws on traditional Costa Rican construction and Indigenous Bribri and Cabecar influences, blending wood, stone, and palm with open-air spaces that connect guests to the surrounding environment.
All-Inclusive Experience in Costa Rica
One of the property’s biggest differentiators is the introduction of Griffin Club, JW Marriott’s first hotel-within-a-hotel concept. The exclusive 45-room enclave offers dedicated check-in, butler service, private beach and pool access, and elevated amenities designed for travelers seeking a more personalized luxury all-inclusive experience.
Guests will have access to Costa Rica’s largest resort pool complex, spanning 44,000 square feet, as well as the largest JW Marriott signature garden in the brand’s global portfolio. Culinary programming includes 11 restaurants and bars featuring Costa Rican, Asian, Japanese and international cuisine, alongside the brand’s signature Culinary School, where guests can participate in immersive cooking experiences centered on local ingredients and traditions.
The resort will also feature a standalone JW Marriott Root Beer Stand, paying tribute to J. Willard Marriott Sr.’s original root beer business in Washington, D.C., which eventually evolved into one of the world’s largest hospitality companies.
Wellness also plays a central role in the guest experience. The property includes a 16,000-square-foot spa and wellness center, a dedicated mindfulness hub and family programming through a kids’ club.
