Luxury travel company Red Savannah has announced the new In The Footsteps of the Great Detectives 7-day itinerary, which is dedicated to some of the most iconic fictional detectives.

The misty streets of London are the setting for The Great Detectives tour.

In London, the journey begins with the maze of clandestine clubs, hushed parlor secrets and fog-filled alleyways of Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick, Doctor Watson—the crime-solving duo from stories penned by Sir Arthur Conon Doyle—before fast-forwarding to the elegant Art Deco era of the early 20th century and Belgian Detective Monsieur Poirot, creation of best-selling mystery writer, Agatha Christie.

Continuing to Oxford travelers will explore the hallowed cloisters of learning in Oxford, where opera-loving Inspector Morse thwarted misdeeds and miscreants. The journey concludes in southwest England, where Arthur Conan Doyle’s Hound of the Baskervilles haunted Dartmoor and where Agatha Christie ‘murdered’ residents of the Burgh Island Hotel in Evil Under the Sun.

Itinerary highlights include:

  • Stopping for a pint in London’s Sherlock Holmes pub, which boasts an exhibition
The audience is asked not to divulge the ending following a performance of The Mouse Trap.

    dedicated to the eponymous detective

  • Exploring the cobbled streets of Westminster and Covent Garden
  • Visiting St Barth’s Hospital, where Holmes and Watson met
  • Taking in a performance of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, the world’s longest-running play and best-kept secret
  • Enjoying a drink at the Morse Bar at Oxford’s famous Randolph Hotel
  • Stopping off in the Cotswolds, where Poirot has been known to solve a case
  • Taking a riverboat to Agatha Christie’s beloved home, Greenway
  • Staying at the Art Deco Burgh Island Hotel, setting of one of Poirot’s most confounding cases.

It’s all part of a new series from Red Savannah called “In The Footsteps Of…” which includes itineraries providing travelers the chance to connect with the lives of historic figures and enticing characters. One itinerary focuses on the remarkable life of design legend Coco Chanel and another provides a look into the life of one of Great Britain’s most revered military and political figures, Winston Churchill.
