As the world shut down for travel due to COVID-19, these three properties prepared to open their doors for the first time. Here are three new hotels opening soon post COVID-19, where your clients can relish in stunning surrounding nature, take in the local foodie scene, or dive into a UNESCO World Heritage city of culture.
1. Rosewood Purto Cervo, Sardinia
Rosewood Purto Cervo, a new resort on the island of Sardinia in Costa Smeralda, Italy is the latest addition for the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts brand. The new property, expected to open in 2022, will offer a modern Mediterranean oasis featuring 65 guestrooms, including 26 suites, all of which offer 180-degree views of the Mediterranean Sea. The property will also offer guests a variety of dining venues including a bistro and lounge par, plus a lively pool bar and beach club. There will also be a pool, a full-service spa, and a fitness center so guests can find time to relax. The Rosewood Explorers Club will be a great spot for younger guests to enjoy with hands-on activities where little ones can play, plus a private pier offers guests access to the town of Porto Cervo by boat.

2. The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko, Japan
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has announced the opening of it’s latest property in Asia Pacific—The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko. The new property is set amidst a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers guests a luxury experience in the destination. Located in the Northern Kanto region of Japan, The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko is located 2.5 hours north of Tokyo and accessible by rail or car.
The destination offers guests many outdoor activities, and natural treasures such as the Kegon Falls, and an array of Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. Nikko, and its surrounding area, has been known as a holy place and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for cultural, religious, and architectural significance of its decorated shrines and temples. Guests can easily access attractions such as Nikko National Park, where the hotel is located, and the UNESCO World Heritage designated area.
The property offers 94 guestrooms and suites all of which feature a private balcony that flows with an engage lounge area, offering an expanded space for guests to take in the scenery surrounding the hotel. There are four dining experiences including all-day dining at The japanese Restaurant, the Lakehouse offering Western dishes, and The Bar, where local ingredients are highlighted in cocktail recipes, plus The Lobby Lounge offering light bites and Afternoon Tea overlooking the garden. Guests can also indulge at the Spa, which features treatments inspired by the natural revitalizing elements and heritage of the region, as well as hot springs in the Japanese onset tradition.
Every day at dusk, the lobby area will be transformed into a place of spiritual respite, offering a moment to reset and appreciate the day that has passed. Upon departure, guests will receive a sacred omamori (Japanese amulet), their own keepsake memento and a wish for safe travel. 3. Zentis Osaka, Japan
The Palace Hotel Group just opened Zentis Osaka located in the port city of Osaka, Japan, the first of a new hotel brand is also a member of Design Hotels. The new 16-story property features 212 guestrooms and suites.
The property, set in a garden of its own, offers guests the feeling of being in nature through double-sided fireplace in the lobby, and floor-to-ceiling windows in public spaces. Zentis has embraced the Japanese aptitude for space utilization, opting for more sustainable dimensions when it comes to its accommodations, which range from 270-sq.-ft. Studio rooms to 615-sq.-ft Suites. In deference to simplicity and sensibility, each guestroom’s layout draws inspiration from the modular design of Japanese bento boxes, giving way to clearly defined sections that seamlessly fit together for optimum flow and functionality. The suites, both situated on the topmost floor, feature entirely separate living and sleeping spaces as well as a cozy dining area. Entry-level Studios are furnished with king-size beds, rain showers and plush bath linens from Imabari, while each Suite and Corner Studio also come with a soaking tub and can be combined with an adjoining Studio to create a two-bedroom unit.
The property also features a dining venue—in a destination famous for its culinary culture—UPSTAIRZ, the hotel’s all-day dining venue, is led by chef Singya Otsuchihashi, who comes from the Michelin-starred CRAFTALE restaurant in Tokyo. The eatery will feature a dining room with an open kitchen, a lounge for light bites, and afternoon tea, plus a covered outdoor terrace and a bar serving seasonal cocktails and fine Japanese whiskies.

4. Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort, Italy
Although, not a brand new property, Luxury Hotels is adding Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort in Italy to its portfolio. The new property, located 15 minutes by boat from Venice, overlooks the sandy beaches of Venice Lido and offers 196 guestrooms including 23 suites. Guests will also enjoy private beach cabanas, as well as various dining options such as Elimar Beach Bar and Restaurant, the Blue Bar, and Pool Bar.
The hotel has an established role in the wider community of Venice having been the home of the film festival since 1932. Hotel Excelsior re-opened its beaches and restaurants on June 27, and welcomed guests back to the hotel on July 11. It will also once again play host to the world’s most famous movie makers and stars as it prepares to host the 77th Venice International Film Festival in September.
