Originally opened in 1940, The Shelborne now includes a 4,000-square-foot grand lobby bar, which preserves the historic elements of the hotel. The iconic pool and its diving board—hallmarks of the hotel’s charm from the 1950’s—have also been restored.

“We are proud to introduce Proper Hospitality’s signature blend of luxury and design-forward hospitality to the heart of Miami Beach,” said Brian De Lowe, Co-Founder and President of Proper Hospitality, in a press statement. “With The Shelborne by Proper, we’re breathing fresh life into a Miami icon, pairing timeless design with a contemporary spirit that builds community through art, dining, and wellness.”

The hotel’s signature suites include:

  • A 1,700-square-foot Two-Bedroom Penthouse Suite with an expansive outdoor terrace.
  • A Two-Bedroom Terrace Suite, curated with modern accessories.
  • One-Bedroom King Suites offering ocean views from living rooms and bedroom balconies.
  • Two-Bedroom Pool Villas featuring a kitchenette, lounge areas and a terrace overlooking the pool and Atlantic Ocean.

The Shelborne by Proper’s food and beverage program is being developed in collaboration with the Lowder-Tascarella team, led by Michelin-starred Chef Abram Bissell and acclaimed mixologist Christopher Lowder. Guests will also have access to a 24-hour fitness center, wellness programs and a beachfront club. A beach and wellness membership will also be available for locals.
