Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has announced plans to begin welcoming guests back to Jamaica on Dec. 6, 2025, as the island recovers following Hurricane Melissa.
After a comprehensive post-storm assessment across its eight Jamaican resorts, the company confirmed that Sandals Dunn’s River, Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ocho Rios, Sandals Negril, and Beaches Negril will reopen in early December with all facilities and amenities fully restored.
Welcoming Guests in December
“Jamaica is a large and diverse island, and each region has experienced the storm differently,” said Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman, Sandals Resorts International, in a media statement. “In Ocho Rios, which is in the parish of St. Ann, our resorts were largely unaffected by the most severe impacts. We have meticulously surveyed each resort, and all systems and amenities will be fully operational to welcome guests with confidence once again.”
With restoration plans in place, the December 6th reopening date also ensures team members have the time to recharge and care for their families and communities before returning to work.
“Our team members have shown extraordinary commitment, and their spirit is indomitable,” added Stewart.
Sandals’ remaining three Jamaican resorts—Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean, and Sandals South Coast—are undergoing more extensive repairs and are scheduled to reopen May 30, 2026.
Stewart, who serves as a special investment envoy for tourism and was recently appointed to Jamaica’s Hurricane Melissa Recovery Task Force by the country’s Minister of Tourism, The Hon. Edmund Bartlett, underscored the role of tourism in national recovery efforts.
“Tourism is a vital part of Jamaica’s recovery, and guests can feel confident that the best way to support the island is by visiting,” he noted. “And if there’s one thing I can tell you: at Sandals, when we come back, we always come back bigger, stronger and better than before.”
In tandem with restoration efforts, the Sandals Foundation—the company’s philanthropic arm—is leading relief initiatives across Jamaica. Since its founding in 2009, the Foundation has championed programs in education, community development, and environmental protection throughout the Caribbean.
One hundred percent of every donation goes directly toward funding local relief and rebuilding projects.
