Michael Turek will guide guests in the film and photography portion of this first-time expedition in Bhutan.

Sister hotels COMO Uma Paro and COMO Uma Punakha have partnered with Natural World Safaris and Michael Turek, a British-American photographer and Kodak Ambassador, to launch Bhutan’s first Film and Photography Expedition.

Departing June 2, 2019, the Eight-Day Film & Photography Expedition will give guests the opportunity to experience Bhutan as they peer through the lens of a film camera with the guidance of Turek who will share his methodology for shooting with this medium. Guests will spend five nights at COMO Uma Paro and two nights at COMO Uma Punakha, and will journey deep into the kingdom’s heartland to explore three distinctly different valleys: the capital of Thimphu with its monuments, museums and markets; the tropical Punakha Valley highlighting its dzongs—a traditional architecture common in Bhutan; and the valley of Paro, featuring rice paddies and ancient temples. Other highlights include walks along winding rivers to sacred monasteries and temples that cling to the side of cliffs, as well as scenic drives through mountain passes. Travelers will also discover Bhutan on foot with treks along forest trails lined with prayer flags.

Included in this Bhutan itinerary are accommodations on a full board basis including picnic lunches during excursion days; six-and-a-half days of privately guided excursions for taking in the highlights of the Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha valleys; private services of an English-speaking Bhutanese guide; one 60-minute COMO Shambhala body treatment; all museum and visitor center entry fees and road permits; a 1-hour complimentary daily yoga class at COMO Uma Paro; private airport transfer and transport around Buhtan, plus government visa and royalty fees, service charges, and sales tax.

Rates for this itinerary start at $5,800 pp dbl or $7,600 pp sgl. For more information, visit comohotels.com/en/umaparo and comohotels.com/en/umapunakha. For other special interest tours including a photography-focused experience in Italy, click here.
