Bermuda is open, safe and ready to welcome travelers. In August, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) improved the island’s ranking to Level 2—one of only four places in the world assessed with “moderate” COVID-19 risk level. Additionally, Bermuda just earned the World Travel & Tourism Council “Safe Travels” Stamp, which allows travelers to recognize governments and companies around the world, which have adopted health and hygiene global standardized protocols.
“Bermuda has taken safety seriously since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and has emerged as an extremely safe place for travelers to visit in 2020,” said Glenn Jones, interim CEO for Bermuda Tourism Authority. “We continue to enhance and elevate our protocols to protect our local community and put our guests’ minds at ease, so they can fully enjoy and experience our island.”
Bermuda’s LF Wade International Airport reopened to regularly scheduled commercial flights on July 1, and the island’s tourism industry invited visitors back to safely and responsibly enjoy natural beauty and genuine hospitality. Offering travelers a directly accessible, safe destination from many East Coast destinations, Bermuda is a close, comfortable location for those in need of an escape.
To enter the island, visitors to Bermuda must take a PCR COVID-19 test and obtain a negative result no more than seven days before departure. They are also required to complete the Bermuda travel authorization process online 48 hours before arrival, at a fee of $75. Upon arrival, all travelers must undergo a PCR COVID-19 test at the airport and quarantine at their accommodation until results are ready. (Turnaround time is approximately 24 hours for most results.)
During their time on island, visitors must take their own temperature daily and report via online application/portal. They are also required to take follow up COVID-19 tests, administered on day 4, day 8 and day 14 of their stay at easily accessible satellite centres. Visitors must wear face masks and practice physical distancing at the airport, in-flight, and upon arrival to the greatest extent possible.
On August 1, Bermuda introduced the Work From Bermuda certificate, aimed at business executives, entrepreneurs and students. With just a $263 application fee pp, the new program allows travelers 18 years and older to move to the island nation for up to a year to work remotely. With a strong global business infrastructure, contemporary culture, and healthy, luxurious island living, Bermuda is an attractive option for anyone who wants to leave behind their home office for an extraordinary island setting.
As Bermuda welcomes visitors back to the island, more of its hotels are re-opening to guests. From pristine, spacious resorts to clean, comfortable cottages, properties are taking robust measures to ensure safety protocols are met and visitors have a safe, relaxing stay.
