Tauck is expanding its European river cruise program for 2028 with three new itineraries on France’s Rhone River, offering options ranging from a 6-day cruise to a 14-day journey combining France and Spain.

The company has also added a second ship to the river, increasing capacity for travelers looking to explore the Rhone Valley.

Bookings are now open for the 2028 collection, which includes the new ms Harmonie alongside the ms Lumiere. The expansion is part of a broader plan to increase Tauck’s river cruise guest capacity by more than 50 percent over 2025 levels by 2028.

3 New Ways to Explore the Rhone Valley

The new itineraries explore destinations across southern France, combining historic towns, Roman landmarks, regional cuisine and wine country.

Essence of the Rhone: This 6-day cruise sails between Lyon and Arles aboard the ms Harmonie. The cruise-only itinerary includes stops in Lyon, the medieval town of Viviers and Arles, known for its Roman amphitheater and ties to Vincent van Gogh. Guests can explore local food and wine traditions and choose from cultural sightseeing or more active excursions.

A Week On…the Rhone: This 8-day itinerary combines a 5-night cruise aboard the ms Lumiere with visits to destinations including Avignon and the Camargue. Guests can explore Avignon’s Palais des Papes and visit a local farm to learn about the Camargue’s ranching traditions. Off-shore experiences include chocolate truffle-making or a rail-bike excursion through the countryside.

Barcelona, Burgundy & the Rhone: For clients seeking a longer European vacation, this 14-day itinerary combines three hotel nights in Barcelona with a 9-night river cruise. The journey visits wine regions and includes time in Burgundy, where guests can explore Beaune, visit the historic Hotel-Dieu and learn about regional winemaking.

Tauck Adds an Italian Lakes Stay to Rhine Cruise

Tauck is also introducing Rhine Enchantment, Italian Lakes to Amsterdam on select 2028 departures. The 11-day itinerary replaces the usual Milan start with a 3-night stay at Hotel Splendide Royal in Lugano, Switzerland, followed by a 7-night Rhine River cruise to Amsterdam. During the hotel stay, guests can explore Lake Como and choose between sightseeing in Milan or an excursion to Monte Tamaro.

More Capacity and Wellness Options for 2028

The addition of ms Harmonie will double Tauck’s guest capacity on the Rhone. Like ms Lumiere, the ship will feature a spacious Sun Deck and The Retreat, a dedicated area for fitness and relaxation. Tauck has also confirmed five Wellness Departures for 2028 across its broader European river cruise collection, building on the first two such departures aboard ms Serene in 2027.

What Travel Advisors Should Know

The new Rhone itineraries give advisors additional options for clients interested in French history, culinary experiences and wine regions, with a range of trip lengths and starting prices to suit different travel plans.
